This dog acrylic portrait was painted of Shempy, a 14 year old german shepherd. Also referred to as Shepherdy Goofs, this dog belonged to my husband Seth. Shempy was extreemely camera shy so the referrence photo you see below is only one of dozens of pictures all containing a small portion of him as he would run from me whenever I had the camera. The background for this painting is in the library where he is portrayed sitting on his dog bed. Although he would not pose like this for me, I took a picture of this exact spot and then peiced him together from parts of my other photos. It took a lot of work to do all this but he was worth it. In the painting you see him painted as he was...an old man. He had a large pot belly and a weak back end which progressively was growing weaker and weaker. Sadly, our Shempy had to be put to sleep in 2010 as well due to complications of old age.

The pet portrait is in size 12x15 in and was painted in year 2010.
